Makeover Made Me Miserable

When I used to dabble in the world of image consultancy, I chatted with countless clients about their need for a makeover. They generally fall under two distinct categories — let’s call them Group A and Group B.

Group A, also known as the “I Want to Learn How to Project a Positive Image” crew, sought my guidance to learn the art of dressing and grooming to ensure that their appearances align with their abilities and who they are. They either hope to leave good impressions at work or leave a charming impression during their romantic dates.

RELYING ON APPEARANCE TO FEEL GOOD ABOUT OURSELVES

Then there was Group B, the “Self-Doubters Anonymous.” They were plagued by constant feelings of inadequacy and self-doubt. They hoped that a magical makeover would somehow sprinkle confidence dust all over them, making their self-esteem skyrocket. Well, it didn’t.

Now, here’s the hilarious part—I used to fall into Group B myself! I thought I could mask my insecurities by looking like a million bucks. But guess what? It left me feeling empty.

    IT’S ABOUT WHO WE ARE

Instead of obsessing over our external appearance, we need to take a good look at the awesome qualities within. It’s all about who we are, not what we wear.

I made a profound decision to embark on a journey of self-discovery. I started digging deep into the treasure chest of who I am. Uncovering my unique qualities made me feel good about myself.

We all have these hidden gems within us—values, talents, personalities, and experiences that make us shine. Instead of wasting time and money chasing external validation, let’s celebrate our quirks, our brilliance, and our exclusive life stories.

When we learn to appreciate ourselves for who we truly are, it’s like unleashing a flood of self-assurance, confidence, and genuine happiness.
